O'Neil Henry's Biography
O’Neil Henry has over 35 years of basketball experience, played at the highest level in Canadian basketball. O’Neil loves giving back to his community by volunteering as a youth worker mentoring the youth in the North York community where he grew up.
His education is in Business Management and after college, he pursued a career as a child and youth worker for over 20 years supporting and mentoring behavioural youth, CAS children and children on the autism spectrum.
His coaching philosophy is built around developing the fundamentals, motivating to bring out the highest possible individual effort and requiring a team approach from all players. O’Neil coaches a boys REP team and has experience coaching House League, AAU, and high school.
What is important to coach O’Neil: “Being a positive influence on players and making an impact in their lives is what coaching is all about.” says coach O’Neil.
“A coach’s worth isn’t found in their W/L record...It’s about their impact in the game and more importantly the impact in their players lives.”
Basketball Experience: Bathurst Heights Alumni – selected to the All-Star Team.
Played four years of high-level varsity basketball where coach O’Neil was known for his lockdown defence and ability to play above the rim.
Humber College Alumni - Won three OCAA Championships – selected to the All-Star Team – Won two CCAA Championships and was named MVP of the CCAA Finals. He received two National Championship Rings.
